It's time for another photo rally! As we're getting back into all forms of driving events this year, a fun drive with a bit of optional mental challenge seems like just the thing to have on our calendar.
This photo rally will be unique in that it features two starting points ( BMW of Des Moines & BMW of North Liberty) culminating in a common rendesvous lunch at the West Side Family Restaurant in Grinnell, IA. This will provide all chapter members a more convenient opportunity to participate in the event and share their experiences together over lunch. We have reserved a meeting room at the restaurant.
So...what exactly is a photo rally and what can participants expect?
Each driver/navigator team will receive both a set of route instructions and collection of photos to guide them toward the rally end point, the West Side Family Restaurant in Grinnell, IA. To whet your lunch appetite, here's a link to their website: https://www.grinnellwestside.com/. Their food has been "pre-tasted" by several rally masters and you will enjoy the large selection and reasonable prices. They especially vouch for their "homemade tenderloin"!
From the respective East or West starting location, the participants will follow a clearly described route (no intentional "gotchas" are involved), and along the way be on the lookout for the photos provided in the instructions. You will identify the location of the photo by recording the photo's number alongside the last previous route instruction and before the next route instruction. The team on each route with the best score of correctly identified photos (e.g. they found them and correctly captured their location in the route instructions) will be declared the route winners. Route odometer mileage and approximate time are included in the route instructions merely as a guide to remaining on the prescribed route; this is not intended to be a time-speed-distance rally....just don't be late for lunch at 1pm! ;-). Each route allows ample time for "pit stops" as each team may desire.

West Starting Point Location: BMW of Des Moines, 9631 Hickman Road, Urbandale, IA. 50323. Please meet at 9:00am for a participants meeting, receipt of route instructions and waiver execution. Teams to depart in intervals starting approximately 9:30am.
East Starting Point Location: BMW of North LIberty, 525 Madison Ave, North Liberty, IA 52317. Please meet at 9:00am for a participants meeting, receipt of route instructions and waiver execution. Teams to depart in intervals starting approximately 9:30 am.
