MassTuning TrackFest (Aug 28, 2022) InstructorDay

Canaan Motor Club

About this event

Current instructors and advanced drivers only! This is an instructor development event!

MassTuning TrackFest 2022 Schedule: www.MSReg.com/TrackFest

MassTuning is inviting instructors and instructor candidates to attend a 2-day instructor development event, on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th, at Canaan Motor Club. Over the two day event, attendees will receive 4+ hours of track time, participate in 2-3 hours of instructing activities and role playing, as well as interactive classroom sessions.

The purpose of this event is to provide MassTuning instructors with an opportunity to level-up their instructing skills, confidence, and experience. With a heavy demand on instructor availability at typical MassTuning events, this instructor development event intends to prepare attendees to help MT novice drivers get up to speed safely. Instructors attending the event should expect two full days of intensive driving, instructing, and learning.

Attendees can expect to:

  • Drive on-track...
    • solo as an example for others
    • in lead-follow sessions with other MassTuning instructors
    • with another MassTuning instructor riding shotgun to roleplay never-ever students
  • Role Play student observation and instruction...
    • before a session
    • on-track
    • post-session
  • Learn and apply classroom content, including...
    • Strategies to stay safe while on-track
    • How to listen, when to talk, and what to say
    • When to sign-off (or not)
  • Be observed driving from outside the car by other MassTuning instructors
  • Receive feedback on their driving...and be OK with that!

Attendees should bring their own car, fully prepped for two days of driving with virtually zero time for maintenance or repairs. Cars should be equipped with a passenger seat, properly mounted, ideally with equivalent seat belts and containment protection as the driver side. Finally, attendees are encouraged to bring video equipment, laptops, RAM or similar cell phone mounts, and headphones/earpieces for optional remote coaching experimentation at the end of Day 2.

Onsite camping is free but anyone interested must arrive between 5pm and 9pm.
