TOUR TO THE TOMBSTONES RALLY
You’re invited to join us for the next Texas Region SCCA Road Rally on Oct 5. We will tour Grayson and Cooke Counties and visit a number of cemeteries, many of them designated historic. Course–following will be easy with mileages at every turn. All roads are paved.
Rally Day is Saturday, October 5, 2013. Registration opens at 8:30am at El Guapo's Restaurant, in Denton, at 419 S Elm St Denton, TX 76201, phone (940) 566-5575. First car out about 9:30, and you will come back to El Guapo's for a late lunch.
You will be directed to a number of area cemeteries in Cook and Grayson counties. At each one you will record the name, and at some of them, you will have to find another piece of information. At the end of the course you will find the cemetery names in a Word Search puzzle.
This is an SCCA GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rally. This is not a timed event, except that you do have an overall amount of time to finish the event. This time will be generous. There will be no reason to speed. Any kind of street-legal four-wheel vehicle with at least two people who can read in the car may enter.
The Rally Fee is $20.00 for SCCA Members, and $25.00 for non-members. There is a $5.00 late fee if not preregistered here. There are four classes: First Timer, Novice (<3 rally trophies), General, and Master. The Rallymaster is Liz Witt.
You will want to do online registration (here at MotorsportReg.com) because then you will be mailed the rally rules a few days before the event.

Texas Region SCCA (www.texasscca.org) is affiliated with the Sports Car Club of America (www.scca.org). With nearly 50,000 members, and with Regions all over the US, the club offers car related activities in a broad range of automotive events.
A road rally is not a contest of speed or racing. The challenge is to follow a prescribed course at legal speeds and to read signs and landmarks along the route to find answers to questions supplied by the organizers.

This rally is sanctioned as a Regional Rally by SCCA, and is a part of the National SCCA RoadRally Championship. Sanction Number 2013-RG-41-04.
Event requirements
There must be at least 2 people old enough to read in every rally car. The driver must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. The car must be in good mechanical condition. If one of the rally car occupants is a minor (under 18 years old), that person must have an SCCA "Minor Release" signed by a parent in the presence of either the rally registrar or a Notary Public.
